PSYCHOSOCIAL COORDINATOR, NORTH IRAQ (National Post)

Position length and closing date and supervisory structure

The closing date for applications is 15 December 2016.

Contract duration: 6 months, with possible extension

Psychosocial coordinator reports to the program manager of LWF based in Duhok.

Basic purpose

The Psychosocial Coordinator (based in Duhok/Erbil, Kurdistan Region of North Iraq, with frequent travel to different project areas in KRI and Ninewa) shall be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring/reporting of the Lutheran World Federation Psychosocial Sector, and shall report to the LWF/DWS Program Manager. He/she shall also assist with other program related matters and relationships with other relevant stakeholders both inside and outside LWF.

This position requires a good experience and personal qualities in the areas of PSS program for IDPs/returnees.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in any discipline with a relevant training from a recognized institute
  • At least one year of counselling and training experience, on PFA and/or SGBV preferably, experience working directly with IDPs/returnees.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead groups and work well in a team setting
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Knowledge and Experience

  • Technical skills in supporting psychosocial support projects.
  • Experience in facilitating activities and workshops.
  • Clear understanding of gender and women’s well-being need.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience.
  • Diplomacy.

Language Skills

  • English: Fluent (written, spoken)
  • Arabic: Fluent (written, spoken)

Main duties

Main responsibilities:

· Lead the process in developing and reviewing the community based psychosocial support intervention strategy of the LWF in Iraq to the different target groups according to the rapidly changing context.

· Lead the project/proposal development process as per the requirement of the donor(s) and local context ensuring all stakeholders’ interests are well included.

· Develop detail work plans for the approved project and implement.

· Monitor, report and coordinate the operational planning and implementation of MHPSS services delivered under LWF program in Iraq.

· Develop training materials, organize workshops and conduct training targeting LWF and partner staff, as relevant.

· Facilitate LWF partners in developing partnership project and its implementation to ensure that the project is operating in line with LWF strategy and project objectives gearing toward achieving the anticipated results.

· Conduct regular field monitoring visits and evaluations of project activities directly implemented directly by LWF as well as its partners.

· Assist in ensuring compliance with LWF and donor requirements including guidelines, rules, and regulations, such as the field procurement manual.

· Liaise with project partners, government officials, other relevant stakeholders and counterparts.

· Represent LWF at Protection/PSS related meetings and working groups.

· Carry out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor P
